A holiday cottage (or gîte) in France is an valuable starting point for an unforgettable holiday in one of the largest and most beautiful countries in Europe. French fashion, perfume, gastronomy and wine are famous throughout the world, but there is nothing more delightful than going there to see for yourself. No matter how often you visit this country, it always has the capacity to surprise and delight, from the magic of Paris to the appeal of its country-wide hamlets, booking a couple of weeks in a holiday cottage in France is the perfect getaway.
The French coast offers as wide a variety of beaches as you’re likely to find anywhere, from the rugged Atlantic shores to the white sands of the south. France’s history is more than evident as you explore the countryside, with picturesque hamlets nestled in the folds of the mountain ranges, or discover a great chateau, seemingly raised up through the very rocks of the landscape. Wherever you may choose a holiday cottage in France, you are in for a great experience.
Normandy and Brittany are two very popular departments of the northern regions of the France. Farms abound in both regions and if you like cheese, you will definitely enjoy a stay here. Moreover, very few places in the world rival Normandy when it comes to seafood. From seafood to cheese, and everything in between, a few days in a holiday cottage in France and your taste buds will love you. The abundance of orchards is another thing you’ll find as you swing from one gastronomic experience to the next. You’ll be pleased to know that after those delicious meals there’s plenty of locally brewed cidre (cider) on offer.
The beautiful Loire Valley, some 3 hours drive south west of Paris is definitely worth having in mind when you are looking for a holiday cottage in France. Until about 1550 the French aristocracy reveled in building palatial chateau (mansion house) with immaculate landscapes throughout the Loire Valley. A significant part of the valley has since then been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. When searching for a holiday cottage in France it will certainly be advisable to look into all that this region has to offer, as it truly is magnificent.
If you enjoy a glass of wine, then rent a holiday cottage in France that’s in a region bursting with vineyards and discover what all the commotion is about. French wine has a global reputation, so much so that it’s easy to forget that Cognac is actually a department of the country. Whether you fancy Cognac or Bordeaux, it’s easy to find a holiday cottage in France that’s only a cork’s throw from a great vineyard. Spending a week or two in a holiday cottage in France that is situated in an area of lush vineyards is bound to ensure a happy vacation.
If you’re looking for a beach holiday, then the southern coastal regions enjoy the Mediterranean Sea. Sun, sea and sand, with a great climate through most of the year. France (referred to by is citizens as “l’Hexagon”) is a huge country, and although very open and unspoiled, its cityscapes are like jewels, with places like Cannes and Nice constantly in the spotlight. This landscape is so varied, both in its countryside and its reputation, and finding a holiday cottage in France offers tremendous opportunities. Relax beneath the palms as they wave gently in the sea breeze. Take a break, do nothing and plunge into the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean.
Whether you prefer the rolling vineyards, the rugged castles or the chic city experience, choosing a holiday cottage in France opens all sorts of possibilities.

Thank you for the nice comments about the Loire Valley. The wines of the Loire Valley are superb. We have reds, rose, whites from crisp to dessert, and wonderful sparkling wines. Our area is know as The Garden of France for its gentle lifestyle, excellent produce and wondeful restaurants.
Very nice option for vacations. Beside France Italy and Croatia have nice country cottages and places. Wine is better in France but food in Italy. Anyhow you want miss if you choose one of those countries.

France has everything: cultural interesting cities, beaches and ski resorts, and the natural beauty of the countryside. Lourdes even attracts a few million religious pilgrims a year. Visit the “Les plus beaux villages de France”. Only the most beautiful villages are allowed to carry this title.
