On The Subject Of Rugby In France

Richard asks…

Rugby : Question about players !?

Hi, first of all, i’ll never watch rugby since this 2011 world cup. I just wondering how a rugby player can play both Heineken Cup and the six nations when they are at the same time ( nevember 11 to May 19 : heineken cup and the six nations February 4 to March 17) .
For exemple, Dimitri Szarzewski play for the national France rugby union but he also play the Stade Francais team in the heineken cup. Same thing for Huw Bennett with the wales and the Ospreys. And goes on …
Is there a kind of break for the heineken cup or ?
Thanks for the answer.

Stewart McIntosh answers:

There is an agreement between IRB and the clubs to designate certain closed periods for international tests, with clubs agreeing to release players to national teams when the call comes during the designated period. By setting the Test periods, IRB allows the clubs to plan in advance, the certainty of which is valuable to the clubs, so they agree to release players (understanding the the exposure of players as Internationals is valuable to their “brand”.) This remains an area of friction, and the clubs, especially some French clubs, do not always release the players, or at least release them also for training on the schedule the national coaches ask for.

The same friction, exactly, appears in Association Football in Europe, where coaches and owners are concerned not only about shifting squads to cover missing players, but the possibility of losing a player to injury.

It comes – for both rugby and football – as the part of the price of professionalism. The Clubs are privately owned businesses, and they need to put bums in seats to cover their costs. Fans, understandably, are less likely to pay the modern cost of tickets to watch a depleted side.

2. How many regions in France?
3. How many metro stations are there in France?
4. How many players are on the France rugby team?
5. What is the population of France?
6. What is the population of Paris?
7. How many millions visit Paris a year?
8. How many Americans are currently living in France?
9. How many visitors does Euro-Disney have a year?
10. How much money does France make from tourists each year?

Thank you! (:

You should go to the Homework Help section. You can find all the answers to these questions, if you just take the trouble to use your search google or yahoo. Why do you expect y/a to do your work.

Maria asks…

Do you think it is right for France to be fined $20,000 in the Rugby World Cup?

France got fined $20,000 for advancing towards the All Blacks whilst they where performing the Haka. Are you just supposed to stand there and be intimidated?

Stewart McIntosh answers:

It has been a great RWC except for the IRB stuff ups. The French getting fined, Samoans being fined for their mouth guards, a Samoan suspended indefinitely for commenting on what everyone was thinking. IRB = Irrational Rat Bags.

Thomas asks…

Has any rugby union team won a match with 14 players?

Has any team gone on to win a match after having a player sent off?

Context: Watching Wales vs France in the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand and the captain of new Zealand got sent off (red carded) for a dangerous tackle early in the first half.

Sandra asks…

does anybody else feel like wales were cheated against france in the rugby world cup?

its obviously unfair to have a ref who is half french and half irish and used to play for the ireland team so obviously hes going to be pissed that his country was kicked out by wales and whoever thought that he would be a good fair ref deserves to be force fed an ashtray mixed in with dog faeces and tied down to a traintrack untill thomas the tank engine slowly crushes him like a tooth paste tube rolled down from the bottom

just something to ponder
i know i should let it go but it is so f’ing annoying i cant stand cheating and that is exactly what the ref did
i am not on about the opportunitys that were missed im on about the fact that he didnt deserve the red card and that the ref only gave it to him to help the team he obviously preferred win
and also how much harder it is to play with a man down and considering they llost by 1 point tell you how good wales realy played
yes it was a bad tackle and yes he should have been sent off but not red carded he should have been sin binned for the 10 mins with a yellow card and then back in play and wales would have won the game without a doubt

Stewart McIntosh answers:

Yes everybody with a brain !
It was NOT a speak tackle.
France couldn’t even score against 14 men
Just wait till the 6 nations, we’ll show the Frogs a thing or two.
But now let’s forget it concentrate on beating the Aussies and go home with a third place
